A'LIL RUSTY FARM LIFE

We are farmers, care takers, with a deep love and respect for life of all kinds, amazing animals and all that we nurture.
— Codiann Lance, A'Lil Rusty Farm

Our "Lil Farm" is just that, however, through traditional farming our model is rooted on century old agricultural beliefs and methods that naturally work with all matters on life on the farm, forming the framework which our values are based, encouraging optimal utilization of natural resources, sustaining a balance of the process and ecosystem.
We proudly raise Nigerian Dwarf Goats, Tennessee Fox Trotter Horses, Welsh Harlequin Ducks, a barnyard mix of
chickens and an array of fruits and vegetables.
A' Lil lifestyle focused on mutualism of the land, animals and people each have their own purpose, playing a vital role in the overall nurturing success of the farm. Our philosophy does not condone wastefulness. Animals that do not meet the best breed standards in conformation or productivity are harvested. The purpose of the performance programs, which we participate, are intended for improving the breed, emphasizing the highest quality standards.
No animals are intended for the specific purpose of providing meat, it is considered an important part of responsible breeding programs which we abide.

"For the true measure of agriculture is not the sophistication of its equipment,
the size of its income, or even the statistics of its productivity, but the good health of the land."
— Wendell Berry

He started with the Ice Barn trading horses from Salt Lake City to Ogden, to Pleasant Valley and Ioka. Along with and the stables and teaching horsemanship at his Valley View Riding Academy in Salt Lake City, Utah in the early 1940's.

As a keystone contributor, Nigerian Dwarf Goats are deer-like foragers, not grazers, help keep vegetation pruned, enjoy clippings and assist with the disposal of weed management. Their droppings make the absolute best fertilizer! The ruminant digestive system does not allow seeds to survive the digestion process, which prevents transplant. In addition it doesn't have a strong odor and is easily collected and distributed. Our straight goat fertilizer in our base product. We add combinations of our other manures for specific feeding blends. Seeds sowed in our germination fertilizer and started in our greenhouse explode, giving not only an early start to the growing season but creates a strong heathy start. Using our growth fertilizer feeds our crops effectively without the concern of burning or over/under feeding all organically.

A'LIL RUSTY FARMYARD "BUTLER"
"I dislike the thought that some animal has been made miserable to feed me. If I am going to eat meat, I want it to be from an animal that has lived a pleasant, uncrowded life outdoors, on a bountiful pasture, with good water nearby and trees for shade. Eating is an agricultural act."
— Wendell Berry
